Vegan Week

My fifteen-year-old son and myself will embark on an experiment for seven days beginning this Sunday (July 24). We're going Vegan.

We were jazzed to find Veg Web as a resource for recipes and meal planning. Buying Vegan products may pose an additional challenge, however.

We're looking for good St. Louis Vegan and organic shopping. Our neighborhood produce stand and local grocery will get us most of the way through the 21 meals, but I'm looking for some outstanding ingredients and secret scoops to get us through all seven days without cheating or quitting altogether.

Ideas are welcome.

Shopping: Try the Golden Grocer on Euclid in the CWE or The Natural Way on Big Bend in Webster. Both have knowledgable staff -- including practicing vegans -- and are locally-owned businesses.

Hooray for you and the boy for expanding your horizons! Remind me to pass along a favorite in the Cherry household, a great cold lentil salad recipe. And if you still need inspiration, I noticed while shopping at Wild Oats yesterday that there's an entire rack, near their community room, of books at 50% or more off, including the Vegetarian Times cookbook and another called "Very Vegetarian" which looked mighty tempting...
