Downtown Literati

Enfin! The new downtown outpost of Left Bank Books opened its doors last week, and the space itself (home, in recent memory, to a modern furnishings shop, then the Independent Art Market, and for a long time, nothing) is beautifully suited to the task, all open space and walls of windows and new bookshelves. 321 N. 10th St., and weekday opening hours are 10 am-6 pm; will have to check again on the weekends.

Those bookshelves are, say, 30% full at the moment, but the store manager promises full stockage by mid-January; looks like there will be a small selection of used titles here, too (upstairs), plus magazines, cards and whatnot. Nice kids' section, a nod to the increasing number of European strollers on downtown streets?

Adios

To Beso, recently (and newly) of the 1100 block of Wash Ave.—it's closed up and cleaned up, with a padlock on the door.
